The last reading program visit of the school year was a little sad for us- it was Muse’s last visit as a working therapy dog. She’s fine, but at 14 it’s become clear that she doesn’t really have the stamina for visits anymore, so we decided a few months ago that she would retire at the end of the school year.

In her 9 years as a therapy dog, Muse has made more than 200 visits to elementary schools, colleges, nursing homes, and hospitals. That’s a lot of belly rubs, hugs, trick dog shows, and reading sessions and it’s been a privilege to share my special girl with the world. Muse took over when her mother Maya retired and I hope her kids will touch as many lives as she did. Gromit will take over the reading program next year, Alice will do the demos and performances, and Spice looks forward to hanging out at the colleges.

I hope you’ll enjoy seeing Muse on some of the many visits and demonstrations she has done.  She’s enjoyed representing therapy dogs, PBGVs, purebred dogs, and preservation breeding in a lot of places during her career.
