I don’t think I’ve been to Rhode Island since the nor’easter at the 2005 PBGV National. Turns out it’s not always 35 degrees and raining here on Memorial Day weekend. After a fun day of judging agility for the toy group club, my travel buddies and I took a nice walk and then had a lobster roll from a clam shack for dinner. #realpbgv #goldenretriever #cleverhounddogtraining

I love how these Scent Work photos by Beth Weidman show 4 different dogs alerting to odor in different (but very clear) ways. Muse is contorting her body to show me the hide under the tractor, Wally his doing his adorable “smushy face” alert on the red box, Elf is giving me “the look”, and CC is the process of laying down and preparing to bark at me if needed. We had another fun day of sniffing at the Rocky Creek Scent Work Club of Lancaster County AKC trial. All 8 of the Clever Hounds who ran this weekend had Qs. Cara finished her Novice Container and Buried titles, Gromit finished Excellent Exterior, and CC finished Excellent container. Can you tell that Gromit and CC were offended about having to pose for photos with Cara? Spice and I had a great time at Purina Pro Plan In

Spice and I had a great time at Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge. The format is time plus faults but only the best of your 2 runs counts. I’m excited to say that Spice had a clear round. This was a great experience- I loved when the announcer declared her to be the cutest dog here, Spice loved the dehydrated rabbit ear she got after running. It was hot, so you will be seeing a wet PBGV running on television, but I needed to keep her cool. Thanks Purina Pro Plan for this opportunity to represent everyone who runs agility with the breed they love most. #incredibledog #realpbgv #cleverhounddogtraining #handling360

When Spice and I were invited to compete at Purina

When Spice and I were invited to compete at Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge, I knew it was a great opportunity but I didn’t realize how few dogs are invited to compete at this event- only 5 in each height category. Spice is the first PBGV to be invited. Today was practice day and we had a great time. The course is challenging and different in style than what we see regularly, but Spice managed to be the only small dog to run it clean on her first practice run (sadly, that’s not the one we got on video). It’s really hot (97 degrees), really loud, and there are cameras all over the course, so I was really proud of how well Spice handled herself. Afterwards we got to do an interview with the production company about PBGVs and Spice’s work as a therapy dog. Tomorrow is the official event, which will be televised in syndication in June. I’m so grateful to Purina for this experience. #realpbgv #incredibledog #cleverhounddogtraining #handling360 #allianceoftherapydogs
